-Chapter 7-

“I can’t believe it’s already 1am. It’s been hours since I came in and started telling you our stories. Don’t you wanna sleep yet?” Alex asked as he looks at his watch.

The only answer he got was Rain’s soft breathing sound. Looking at the angelic face of Rain, Alex could only feel the heartache.

“Who on earth could do such a horrible thing to this little angel?” Alex said as he pulled the blanket over Rain

As days turn into weeks, and weeks turning into months, Rain still can’t fully remember parts of her life even with the wonderful improvements; but she had long given up on trying to remember everything, even though she felt that things are not as complete as before. Unexpected to everyone, was her relationship with Alex, it had actually blossom into something far more beautiful then their past friendship, even without her memories. Everyone was happy for them; all but Serena, Alex’s ex-girlfriend. She had always been jealous of Rain for her guts and her popularity, but now she hates her even more, as she feels that Rain was to be blame for her bad relationship. Cory had broken up with her, when he found out her true colures and decided to look for someone who will love him for who he is, rather then what he has. Serena decided that if she can never have a perfect romance, Rain shall not have it too, therefore, she would give anything to break up their relationship. She began to stalk Rain, hoping scare her into breaking up with Alex, but somehow it seems her intentions were uncovered by Alex; with the help of his other classmates, they somehow manage to prevent anything from happening to Rain. As things beginning to get from bad to worst, Alex decided to meet up with Serena again to get it over and done with once and for all.

“Serena, please I rather you hate me, that to ever accept your love again. You never understand what love is, you never loved me at all. All you wanna do is to win Rain… even in relationship.” Alex said.

“No, Alex; I really did love you with my whole heart. I remember the times we spend, I remember how much you loved me, and nothing has changed. I still do love you.“ Serena exclaimed.

“Serena, you are not going to fool anyone, anymore with those lies. No one is going to believe you ever again.” Alex replied coldly.

“Why are you siding with that slut now? What had she fed you to make you so docile?” Serena exclaim in rage.

“Don’t you dare call her a slut! Because that would only make you look like a whore! Stop making it worse for yourself Serena.” Alex replied.

“Alex Heng… Just you wait. Make sure you never regret what you said today. If I can’t have you, I promise, no one ever will.” Serena said as she began to leave. “Yes, maybe I can’t hurt you, but there is no stopping to who else I can harm other then you.”

As Alex reflected upon what Serena has said, he began to worry for Rain. Just then, he spotted Rain walking along the corridor, towards the staircase which Serena had disappeared to. His normal reflex ability sprung into action, and ran towards the staircase. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he saw Serena appearing right behind Rain.

“Rain Ong!” Serena shouted.

Remember me -Chapter 6-

“Rain, I’m back. Missed me?” Alex said as he stepped into the ward, but he was greeted by only Angel’s silent sobs and Rain’s soft breathing sounds.

“Joey came over again just now, and Rain went berserk. We couldn’t calm her down this time, so the doctor had not choice but to give her a jab.” Angel said as tears keep falling down her cheek.

“It’s okay Angel, it’s time for you to go back and have a rest. I’m here now; I’ll take care of everything.” Alex said as he gave Angel a gentle pat on her back. “Hmm… it’s dinner time, hey Angel, would you mind to stay just a few minutes longer, so I can go and grab a sandwich and drink?”

“It’s okay. I’ll wait; I wanna spend some more time with Rain.” Angel said drying her tears.

Within 20 minutes, Alex was back with not just the sandwiches but fruits and even ice cream, which was in Rain’s favorite flavor. Just as he step into the ward, Rain began to wake from her medicine induce slumber.

“Good morning, my sleeping beauty, had a good rest? Did you dream of me?” Alex asked as he set everything on the bedside table.

“Why should I dream of you when I can’t really say I know you? Expect for your name and some feelings that I think I feel for you, I don’t know anything about you.” Rain replied.

“What kinds of feelings?” Alex asked curiously.

“Well feelings like… you must be someone I liked a lot, but yet you must have done something real bad to me, ‘cos every time there is a mixture of heart break and heart ach taking over the feeling of fondness.” Rain replied trying to figure out what kind of feeling it was.

“Whoa… you remember those feelings! Great! This calls for a celebration!” Alex said with a wide smile. “My little droplet remembers the feeling she had for me.”

“Hey! How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me all these nonsense? You promised you would stop…!” Rain scolded.

“Rain… you remembered the promise I made to you?” Alex asked in surprise.

“Huh? Well it’s just a shot flashback of images that I hit you real hard on your back when you called me names other then Rain, and an image of you promising me that you would stop.” Rain answered as she tries to recall all those images again.

“Well that’s a good progress Rain.” Jem said as she stood there by the door. “Rain, remember this, even if someone lost their memory, their heart will never forget the love.”

“You are…?” Rain asked.

“Jem Heng. Alex’s elder sister.” Jem introduce herself to Rain.

“Jem… I know you… you’re Jimmy’s girlfriend, or was it his ex? No… you are the girl he is interested now.” Rain exclaim as she tries again to figure the images appearing in her mind.

“Well little Rain, that I’ll leave to Jimmy to tell you the next time you see him, okay?” Jem replied with a twinkle in her eyes.

“Rain, I think I better be going home to check on Jimmy now. It seems that he took it rather hard for this accident to happen on you.” Angel said as she’s about to leave the ward.

“Angel, I better send you home. Maybe we can grab our dinner and take away some food for Jimmy,” Jem said as she followed Angel.

“Okay. Jem thanks for visiting and please help me take care of Jimmy and Angel?” Rain said.

“Okay.” Jem replied.

“Rain, it’s time for your dinner.” Alex said as he sees the nurse pushing the food cart into the ward.

“But I’m not hungry. Can I don’t eat?” Rain replied.

“No, you have to have your dinner. How about this, after I feed you, you can have something that you really like a lot.” Alex coxed.

“Something that I like a lot…? Hey, why do I have to let you feed me?” Rain replied

“It’s something cold… and it has many flavors. Oh come on Rain, please let me have the honors, it’s been ages since our last contact. Please…?” Alex begged.

“Well, okay; I’ll let you win this time.” Rain replied, as she realized that she don’t really have the strength to get up, let alone feed herself. “But you have to finish your own dinner and… Is it ice cream?“

“Yes Rain, it’s your in favorite flavor too.” Alex replied

“Rum and Raisins?” Rains asked in delight.

“Yes yes…” Alex replied as he took the bowl off the tray and began to feel Rain her dinner.

As Alex began to feed Rain her dinner, he began to remember the first time he sat by her bed, feeding her dinner. It was something that he would never forget, and only a few days ago, it would seem impossible for him to ever do it again.

“Err… Alex, did we do the same thing a long time ago?” Rain asked as she started at Alex.

“You remembered anything?” Alex exclaimed.

“Not really, I just had some flashback that I don’t really understand, but the looks that you are giving me made me guessed it somehow. Could you tell me what happened?” Rain asked.

There’s no way anyone could say no to her angelic look, but even so, it would be like asking Alex to die if he were told not to tell her.

“I will after we both finish our dinner. I’ll tell you all about it while we have our ice cream. Okay?” Alex replied.

“Okay, I can wait.” Rain replied.

Soon, just as Alex finished his sandwiches and took out the ice creams, he began to tell her about the story of the unforgettable dinner.

“6 months ago, we had a huge fight over our school library duties. I got you so mad that you refuse to talk to me for weeks. Until one night, I just couldn’t take it anymore, So I went over to your hostel block, which was opposite mine, and waited for you at the gate facing your window. Soon it stared to rain heavily, but I just refuse to leave. You felt sorry for me, so you finally came down to accept my apology. I was so happy that I hugged you there and then, right in the rain, so we both got real wet that night. Funny this was that I stood in the rain much longer then you were, and yet you are the one falling sick. It’s was the next morning, when I went over to pick you up to go for the library duties together, I found out that you were suffering from a very high fever. So I stayed back to look after you, after all I was the reason you got sick, so I felt the responsibility, and also Angel was on an exchange trip to Europe. Which mean you practically had no one but me to look after you.” Alex said

“I see, now I understand those images that I keep seeing,: Rains said as the images flashed in her mind again.

“Now before I tell you another story, I got something to give you.” Alex said as he took out the little teddy bear from the bad.

“Aww… he’s cute. Where have I seen him before? He looks so familiar.” Rain said as she took hold of the little bear.

“He was a gift from me to you, on our first unofficial date to the fair.” Alex replied as he looked at how tightly Rain was hugging the bear.

It could be seen in Rain’s eyes as she held on to the teddy bear, the amount of adoration, how much she had missed the little bear and how much she treasured it. “Rain, no matter what happen, I will never let history repeat itself again. I am going to be by your side and protect you from everything, forever.” Alex said to himself.

Remember me -Chapter 5-

“Alex, how’s Rain doing now?” Jem asked as she sees Alex waking into the living room.

“She’s finally woken up now, but she’s suffering from amnesia. Can’t remember anyone, not even Angel or Jimmy. At one point she can’t even remember herself.” Alex replied.

“Gosh… Angel must be really upset, she must have cried a million times, she always dote the most on Rain. What about Jimmy? How’s he taking the news? Although he never showed it, but he really love these two little sisters of his.” Jem asked.

“Whoa… Jem you seem to know quite a lot about Jimmy. Anyway you are right. Stunted, shocked… you name it, he’s doing it.” Alex replied.

“So you will be going over later?” Jem asked as she took a glass of milk and passed it over to Alex.

“Thanks. Yap, just came home for a short rest, will be going over later in the late afternoon.” Alex replied as he walked up the stairs to his room.

“Call me when you are leaving, I’ll go with you.” Jem replied.

“Okay. So I will see you at the door at around 4pm?” Alex asked.

“Okay.” Jem replied.

Finally in the safety of his room, Alex finally broke down in tears; tears that he had held back for the whole day began to flow like the waterfalls.

“Rain, I am so sorry. If only we didn’t have that stupid quarrel, if only I wasn’t that stupid to just give up on waiting for you at your hostel. If only I was there waiting for you, I would be able to protect you. I’m so sorry Rain.”

Slowly taking out Rain’s dairy, Alex began to flip through the pages, hopping to find something to tell Rain about their past, something to help her remember him. As the pages flew from left to right, one page stood out from the rest. It was one filled with lots of sticker photos. Looking closely at it, Alex realized that it was the photos they took on their first date. Wanting to know more on how Rain felt about that day, Alex begin to read what was written on the page.

Dear Dairy

Today was the so called first ‘date’ with Alex. Although thereisn’t much of a romantic feeling involve, I had lots of fun. Alexsaid that he wanted to treat me to have some fun. Since he felt he owes me that; for helping him to cover up his fighting and drunken mess. He’s an idiot! Who say I am not having any funin my life, but seeing how he enjoyed the day, man… he sure know how to enjoy life ad have fun.As we are leaving he bought me a little teddy bear from the fair, look… isn’t it cute?Ok, ok it’s time I hit the sack, there’s still a lot of things to bedone tomorrow, especially in the library. I am praying hard for Mr. Heng to keep out of my way.
Rain.

“Seems that she really like you a lot, my little buddy.” Alex said as he looks at the little bear sitting on his desk. “It goes to show how much I’ve hurt her, for her to throw you back to me. I’m sorry little bear, but don’t you worry. I’ll bring you to her later and tell her the story about you.”

With that Alex continued to flip through a few more pages before finally stopping at one, and began to read its content.

Dear Dairy

Today Alex and I had a huge fight again. I can’t believe it; it’s like the 6th fight for the week. We are really making records.Maybe you can be the recorder for these records. Hahahaha…What happen? Well he keeps calling me by the nicknames hecreated… Raine... Annie... the worst was ‘little droplet’… Argh…I have a name, and I rather like my name. I have been trying tomake that idiot stop, but he just refuses to. I can’t believe what he’s trying to do, make him different and so I won’t forget him, please if he really wants that, he could always just say so, evenwithout the nicknames I won’t be able to forget about him thateasily. Anyway he finally promised me that he would stop it, let’ssee if he keeps to his promise. Rain.

“Rain… my dearest Rain; I’ve always known that you hated me for making those nicknames for you; and just as you have known, I just wanna be different. So you can always remember me and hold me close to your heart, but it seems now, even if I didn’t do that, I’m already in your heart.” Alex exclaimed with tears in his eyes.

Tears to Alex were always a sign of weakness, but strangely this time, he’s willing to let her know of this weakness, and let her be his weak point. Somehow it seems, to have such a lady like Rain to be his weakness doesn’t seem so bad at all.

“Rain, after all this that had happen, I am sure that we will be together and stay together for the rest of our lives. Now I finally understand how much I feel for you, I love you Rain.” Alex said as he closed the dairy and switch off the lights.

Remember me - Chapter 4

As Rain turned her focus back on to Alex, “You said you are my old friend, do I know you for a long time? “

“Yes Rain, we have known each other for the longest of time. There are so many things that happen between the two of us, that it would take an even longer time for me to tell you everything one by one.” Alex replied with adoration in his eyes. His Rain is finally back, the Rain he used to know.

“How long would that be?” Rain replied, feeling curious once and again.

“Very very long, but I won’t mind telling you bit by bit, until the day you remember everything single detail again.” Alex replied, as tears of joy began to fall.

“Are you sad? Why are you crying? Don’t cry.” Rain said as she raises her hand to help Alex wipe off the tears. Unable to understand the heartache she feels inside, she felt that it’s better to ask the other when he’s not around.

“Its tears of joy I am shedding. I’m not sad but rather I am far too happy for words. It’s been months since that day we had our quarrel. I am so happy that you are finally talking to me again, Rain I promise you, I will never make you sad or angry ever again.” Alex said as he held onto Rain’s hand.

It’s been months since the fateful day, when he accidentally told Rain off. Although he had tried all kinds of ways and means to apologies to Rain, she had always refused to talk to him, let alone listen to his explanations.

“Alex, you have been here the whole night, think you better go back and get some rest.” Jimmy said. “We’ll take care of things here.”

“I know I ought to go, but I can’t rest; knowing that she’s finally awaken.” Alex replied. “I just can’t leave her like that.”

“I understand what you mean Alex, but you have to take care of yourself too. It’s won’t do Rain or you any good if you fallen ill too. Who’s gonna tell her all the stories that happened between the two of you?” Angel replied.

“I understand.” Alex shrugged. “Rain, I think I better go back and get some rest, as your siblings have ordered, but I’ll be back later in the late afternoon to tell you anything you wanna know. So will you wait for me?”

“Okay, I guess I can wait. You seem to be paler then I am now.” Rain replied.

“Then, I’ll see you guys later.” Alex said as he left the room, holding Rain’s dairy close to his heart.

“Angel, was he someone I loved a lot, or someone I hate to the core?” Rain asked as soon as Alex was out of ear shot.

“Both, Rain… you remembered something?” Angel asked.

“Not really, it’s just that while talking to him I felt very happy at first, as if I’ve found my best friend, or a long lost friend even, but after that, a feeling of anger and heart break took over that feeling.” Rain replied. “Was he someone very important to me?”

“You are very correct, Rain. He was someone very important to you, and if I am not wrong, he felt the same thing for you too.” Jimmy replied.

“Why... Jimmy, I never though you were interested in Rain and Alex’s romance story.” Angel said in shock.

“Hey come one please, I might seem to be a bad elder brother to the two of you, but there is no way I would let anyone hurt you two. Not even my best friend.” Jimmy protested.

“Hmmm, that’s something you don’t get to hear everyday.” Angel replied with a cheeky smile on her face.

Jimmy was always the big bully at home. The twins always though that the reason for Jimmy to dislike them, was because their parents has always dumped the responsibility of looking after them to him. Maybe their parents know something they didn’t.

“Please tell me more about our family and our lives together at home. I wanna know more.” Rain asked as she looked at both Angel and Jimmy.

“What do you wanna know? How our parents keep ‘trusting’ the responsibility of looking after you two twerps to me, and went for their honeymoon trip, one after another? Or how the two of you keep getting on my nerves by crying all day non stop, especially when my exams are near?” Jimmy replied with a smile.

“What about the time he lost you in the mall, while he was trying to get a sales girl’s phone number?” Angel added in.

“Hey no fair!” Jimmy exclaimed.

“But it boils down to the fact that you always love the both of us, right?” Rain butted in, leaving both Angel and Jimmy looking at her with a shocked expression on their faces.

“Yes…” Jimmy replied as the cheeks became red.
“Whoa… Rain, how do you do it? Why is it that you are always able to make Jimmy blush?” Angel asked.

“Because she’s so much cuter then you.” Jimmy replied.

“Hey…!” Angel rebutted. This was a sight anyone would love to see in the Ong family. Even though Rain still has a lot of memory to recollect, right now, she’s enjoying every single bit of family time together.

Remember me - Chapter 3

"This is Jimmy here. Oh hi Alex, looking for Rain? I don't think she's home yet. What? You are looking for Angel?" Jimmy said as he answered the phone. "Angel! Alex’s looking for you."

"Coming." was the only reply from Angel, and within seconds, someone in pyjamas came dashing out from one of the bedrooms to answer the phone.

"Alex? How's Rain, has she waken up?" Angel asked without even waiting for an answer from Alex.

"Whoa... Slow down Angel. I know you are worried about Rain, but Angel, does Rain has the habit of keeping a dairy?" Alex asked, trying to hide the sadness and disappointment in this voice, but it was rather too obvious for Angel to understand something's wrong with Rain.

"Dairy? I think so, but I need to go look for it. Is something wrong with Rain? Tell me the truth Alex, what happen?” Angel asked.

"This morning, when she woke up, it's seems that she can't remember a single thing or person. The doctor recon that it's due to the impact she had on her head, which she might be suffering from amnesia. So I was wondering if she keeps a dairy." Alex replied slowly. "If she does, maybe you can bring it down; there might be some things inside to help jolt her memory back."

"Oh my god, amnesia? How could this be? Okay, I'll look for it and bring it down when I go over to take over the other shift." with that Angel hung up the phone and started to cry.

"Angel, what happen? I thought I heard you say something about Rain. What happen to her?" Jimmy asked as he walked over to comfort Angel.

"Rain got into an accident yesterday. I found her at the bottom of the stairs of the hostel with blood everywhere around her. We suspect that has either fallen from the top of the stairs or someone had pushed her." Angel said between sobs. "Now Alex is still with her in the hospital, and she has just woken up, but it seems she can't remember a single thing. The doctor thinks that she might be suffering from amnesia."

"Oh my god... My... Mum and dad are so gonna kill me. What kind of big brother am I?" Jimmy said.

"It's not your fault Jimmy, I believe mum and dad will understand. I'm going over to see Rain after I locate her diary, you wanna come along?" Angel asked

"I'll be here waiting for you. We'll go together." Jimmy replied as he walked towards his room.

"Alex! How's Rain? Oh here's the dairy you asked for." Angel said the moment she see Alex, who was standing at the vending machine. "What did the doctor say? Do you think its okay to leave her there alone?"

"The doctor said that Rain needs a lot of rest as she has lost a lot of blood. Also we have to talk to her, try to tell her about everything we know about her past, as it might help to jolt her memory back. Don't worry; the doctor was with her when I came out to get coffee. Anyway thanks Angel, for the diary." Alex replied as he took over the diary.

"Think the doctor's out, let's go and see her." Jimmy said.

Just as they were about to step into the ward, they heard something that would freeze all the blood in their veins. Something that they never expect would happen.

"Who are you? Why do you keep telling me that you didn't mean it? I really don't remember who you are. Please stop making my head hurt." Rain begged in agony,

"That's enough Joey!" Jimmy said as he walked in and grabbed hold of Joey. "Get away from Rain."

"Jimmy, Alex and Angel... Thanks god you guys are here. I just wanted to visit Rain. I didn't mean to get her so agitated, but when she sees me, she started screaming like mad. Are you sure she's not mad?" Joey said, trying to cover up the worried look in his eyes.

"I know what you have done, Joey. So don't try to hide that guilty look you have. Just get out of this room now. No one here wants to see you face ever again." Angel said as she pushed Joey out of the room.

"What, you mean you believe her over me, Angel, I know how much you love me. It can't be!" Joey said in shock.

"This lady you were talking about happens to be my darling little sister, and Joey, I never loved you at all. You were never the one for me." Angel replied as she stared right into Joey's eyes.

"As you wish, Angel. I am sure you as just upset over Rain's accident. I will forgive you for what you said to me just now. I will be waiting for you to come back to me, anytime you want." Joey said as he walked out of the ward, yet in his voice there was a distinctive tone of relief.

“Poor Rain, she must have seen or heard something real bad… or else, that creep… one day I am going to get my hands on him, and make sure he regretted ever hurting Rain.” Jimmy said crutching his fist.

“Hush, Rain hush. Don’t cry anymore. No one would be there to hurt you anymore. I’ll protect you, I promise with my life.” Alex said as he held Rain in his arms and stroked her hair.

“Yes Rain, no one can ever harm you again. We are all here to protect you from anything that might hurt you ever again.” Angel said as she looked at Rain.

“Who are you guys?” Rain said as she looked at both Alex and Angel.

“I’m Alex Heng, an old friend of yours.” Alex replied, feeling his heart broken into a million pieces once and again. “I’m Angel, your older twin sister. Our parents are in the USA at the moment. Your name is Rain Ong, and that guy over there, is our elder brother Jimmy.” Angel replied holding back her tears, it feels really odd to be introducing herself and the family to Rain, but yet she knew she had to do it.
